How to set up projective technique using Treeman?

Modified on Tue, 21 Nov, 2023 at 12:01 PM

Main use:

Treeman is a type of Projective technique that elicits the emotions and feelings of participants to a particular topic.
Presented with an image of a Blob Tree, participants are asked to select a character that best illustrates the way they feel. An open ended question is then asked to comment why they feel that way.

How to set up in the platform:

1. In the Questionnaire Builder page, add new question OR insert new question by hovering over an existing question and click the green (+) button (either above or below the existing question)

2. Select Treeman Projective from the popup menu that appears.

3. Write your question number or label in the upper box and write your question in the Question Text Box.

4. Confirm the labels for the enabled character/spots. (The labels will show only on programming and dashboard).

- You can edit the label (spot/character) by hovering to the blue text box

- You can also delete the label (spot/character) by clicking X icon of the blue text box.  (Toggle on the Show Boxes in the Question Setting to guide the participants which characters are clickable)

5. Toggle on Follow-up question and write your open end question for the Reason for selection on Question Text Box.

Useful Question Settings

To prompt another answer to the participant for gibberish response (e.g. dasbjlhflsdbfsjkd) toggle on Prompt on Gibberish.

To prompt for more details when the participant is deemed uninformative or generic (e.g. ok. good, don't know, yes, no etc.), toggle on Prompt on Uniformative Answers.

To enable AI to probe participant answers that could lead to richer insights, toggle on SmartProbe.

To allow participants to update or change answer after submitting, toggle on Allow User Corrections

To allow participants to see blue boxes/borders to help them make a selection, toggle on Show Boxes.
