What are Popup Cards and how to set it up?

Main Use:

An improvement on traditional Grid questions, Popup Cards Questions are used when you need to ask several related questions with the same response sets. With a popup card setting, you present the participant with a series of popup cards of items to be tested (e.g. brand image attributes), sharing a common set of response options. Because popup cards group questions logically, they can clue-in participants that you’re asking them to share opinions from a similar mindset and go through them fairly quickly.

How to set up in the platform:

1. In the Questionnaire Builder page, add new question OR insert new question by hovering over an existing question and click the green (+) button (either above or below the existing question)

2. Select Popup Cards from the popup menu that appears.

3. Write your question number or label in the upper box and write your question in the Question Setup Tab.

4. Also in the Question Setup Tab, add the participants' choices using the Options and Options Settings

- If adding options by typing choices one by one, click on Add New Options

- If adding options using copy paste from a list, click on Batch Add

- You can also add options using the pre-determined list in the Library, using Add From Library

You can also save the options you created and click Save Options to Library (and it will be added in the 'Add From Library drop down list)

- If adding options from an existing question, click on PIPED OPTIONS

- To add a mutually exclusive option, you can select (+) Not Applicable and edit the wording for Not Applicable (for example: None of the above)

- To add Other responses click on (+) Other, Specify and participants can type in and specify their answer (not in the listed option)

- See more details here for ADDING OPTIONS.

5. For each card, add the attributes or statements in the Card Label and Card Content text boxes

- It is recommended to use the rich text format by increasing the font size, changing font / color to make each card more visually engaging to participants.

- Once the first popup card's format is set, subsequent new cards will automatically copy this format. Therefore, users will not have to repeatedly format each new card unless they wish to make specific changes for the particular popup cards

 E.g. Card 1

     E.g. Card 2 etc.

6. To make the question into a multiple choice, click on SELECT MULTIPLE in the OPTION SETTINGS and you can select the least number of allowed response (left) and maximum number of (right) allowed response.

7. If you want to randomize response to shuffle the choices (and to avoid response bias), click on RANDOMIZE. This will display the options in a random order instead of the order you added them in.

Randomizing options for Popup question is ideal if the set of options is not an agreement/preference scale (e.g brands, logos).
